PROJECT NEWS
JUNE 2006 UPDATE! Since The Spitfire Arms Alehouse opened in 2003, I have been fortunate to enjoy success on many levels. The greatest of all has been the number of WW2 and former RCAF personnel who have visited and shared their stories and in some cases, donated items for my small museum located in the building. In addition to the number of Bomber Command crew, I have been honoured in hosting three former Spitfire pilots, two of whom are aces! Their signatures are featured on a Spitfire print hanging for all to see.
COCKPIT REPLICA STATUS
Things have progresses nicely over the past two years. I now have approximately 70% of the main panel instruments collected. A complete set of Lancaster drawings on CD came along early last year for reference. Many post war RCAF fittings, NAV, radio and camera items have been sourced from around the globe...so the collection grows!
The greatest leap came last month when my much better half (very understanding that aviation collecting is not a passion but rather a sickness!) and I purchased a home. Well, I bought a garage and workshop that came with a house thrown in for the family. So, there's now the required space for a project of this size.
Keep you posted!
The Spitfire Arms Alehouse has been a rewarding and successful business and now things are going at a grand pace. If you are visiting Nova Scotia please email me for directions. Inside is a large display case full of my Commonwealth Aviation related items!
